Few posters of the era tied American dinner tables so directly to the war in Europe as this one, which asks viewers to think of France when they sit down to eat. Designed by F. Luis Mora, a Uruguayan-born American illustrator, it was printed in New York by the W. F. Powers Co. in 1918, the last full year of the war. Its message combines food conservation, war relief and fundraising, and it reflects the Food Administration's push for Americans to cut back on wheat and other staples so more could be shipped overseas.
