Printed in color by Strobridge & Co. for the Cincinnati publisher J. Hale Powers & Co., this chromolithograph is titled *Gift for the Grangers*, a nod to the National Grange, the farmers' fraternal order founded in 1867 as the Patrons of Husbandry. The Grange grew quickly in the early 1870s, and sentimental color prints about farm life and rural fellowship found a ready market among its members. Cincinnati was one of the leading centers of American chromolithography in these years, and the print is reproduced in *Eyes of the Nation*, a visual history of the United States.
