Invest" is a 1917 color lithograph from the Strobridge Lithographing Company of Cincinnati, and its Victory sign and bond appeal place it among the government's wartime fundraising posters. The United States had entered the First World War that April and soon began selling Liberty Loan bonds to pay for its military effort. Lithography allowed such posters to be printed in large runs and pasted on storefronts, factory walls and post offices, so the design had to communicate its message at a glance.
