*Help Yourself*, billed as a comedy in three acts, is a 1937 silkscreen poster from San Francisco, and its subject list ties the play to banking, a sore point in 1930s California after the bank failures of the early Depression. The poster was produced under the Federal theater Project, a branch of the Works Progress Administration that employed theater workers and staged low-cost productions during the Depression. Paul Vulpius designed it, and his bold, flat color work is typical of the WPA poster series, which used silkscreen to advertise plays, concerts and public events across the country.
