Few 1828 broadsides name their target as bluntly as this one, which promises an account of the "bloody deeds" of Andrew Jackson in its title. Its subjects point to the episodes opponents pressed during that presidential campaign: the Creek War, the dueling in Jackson's past, and the election itself. The woodcut and letterpress sheet is associated with John Binns, a Philadelphia printer, and reflects the hard-edged partisan publishing of that election year. Read alongside the Horseshoe Bend battlefield, where Jackson's forces defeated the Red Stick Creeks in March 1814, it shows how a reputation won in that war became campaign ammunition.
