Few pictures in the National Photo Company collection show a foreign mission on Eye Street, and the record notes that the embassy had since moved. Legations in the capital often changed addresses as their leases and missions shifted. The National Photo Company documented Washington's streets and buildings on glass negatives in the early twentieth century, and this plate dates from roughly 1910 to 1935. Streaks and blemishes on the glass come from the natural deterioration of its original coating, so some loss of detail is expected.
