The Green Room of the Hotel Utica in Utica, New York, is the subject of this glass-plate negative, a view of the hotel's morning restaurant made sometime between 1900 and 1915. The Detroit Publishing Company, which operated across the United States in those years, produced such views to sell as photochrom and collotype prints to hotels, railroads, and travelers. The record also notes that the negative came to the Library of Congress as a 1949 gift from the State Historical Society of Colorado. Its large 8 by 10 inch format gave the photographer fine detail in the dining room's furnishings and layout.
