Few visitors of the late 1920s could sleep this close to the North Rim, and this stereograph shows the plain interior of a standard guest cabin at Grand Canyon Lodge. The lodge was developed by the Utah Parks Company, a Union Pacific subsidiary, and its rustic design by architect Gilbert Underwood was meant to sit comfortably among the surrounding pines. Keystone View Company, a Pennsylvania firm known for its stereo cards, issued the card, and viewers looking through a stereoscope would have seen the room in apparent three dimensions. The date comes from the caption card and has not been independently verified.
