Renée Falconetti's name dominates this poster, which bills her as the world's most outstanding screen artist and promises a film that will live forever. It advertises the American release of Carl Theodor Dreyer's 1928 silent film *The Passion of Joan of Arc*, which drew on the trial records and relied heavily on close-ups of actors' faces. Falconetti's portrayal of Joan is still widely praised, and she made few films afterward. The poster's credit for English dialogue by David Rose shows that distributors added spoken-language material to make the foreign-made film more marketable to American audiences.
