Rather than a view of the building, this albumen print reproduces the architectural plans of the Imperial Military High School at Kuleli, on the Asian shore of the Bosphorus in Istanbul. It is numbered 26 in an album of military schools compiled during the reign of Sultan Abdul Hamid II, whose government invested heavily in military training. Captions in both Ottoman Turkish and French show the album was made for a wider audience than local officials. The school is now Kuleli Military High School, and the plans document how its campus was laid out in the late nineteenth century.
