Few titles说 say as much about a scene as this one does: "The Picture Buyer" frames the image around a single moment of choice, someone deciding which art to take home. The etching dates to 1911 and comes from an edition of 100, signed on the plate and again in pencil. Carl Zigrosser, a noted authority on American printmaking, recorded it in his catalog, and the Library of Congress acquired it with funds from the Pennell fund, a reminder of Joseph Pennell's work to win etching wider respect in America.
