Two medics carry a wounded insurgent through the frame, a rare picture of care given on the move in the middle of a fight. The record dates the print to about March 25, 1912, when the Mexican Revolution was in its second year. Francisco Madero's 1910 uprising had forced Porfirio Díaz from power in 1911, but rival revolutionary factions and federal troops kept fighting. Photographs like this one show the wounded being moved from the battle, a side of the war that battle scenes often leave out.
