Theodore Roosevelt appears here in hunting gear, ready for the big game that drew him to East Africa after he left the presidency in 1909. That expedition, which crossed British East Africa with a large party, was one of the most closely followed sporting trips of its day, and the specimens it collected went to the Smithsonian. The caption card credits the photograph's copyright to Warrington Dawson, and the record's subject tags point to Africa, hunting, and the presidency. Its unverified details are sparse, but the picture still shows how Roosevelt chose to present himself once he was out of the White House.
