Pairing a modest house with a church spire, this glass-plate negative records a residential corner of Walkerville, Ontario, a town built around the Hiram Walker distillery and later absorbed into Windsor. The Detroit Publishing Company, which sent photographers across North America in the early 1900s, made the image sometime between 1905 and 1915. Its 8 by 10 inch format gives the street-level detail that makes such images useful to historians of small industrial towns and their churches.
