The only identification for this glass negative is a caption card naming the subjects as Fred McKay and his brother, a label the Bain News Service applied without verification, and no date is recorded. George Grantham Bain founded his New York agency around 1899 to supply news photographs to newspapers, and its small glass plates were built for quick printing against tight deadlines. Without a confirmed date or setting, this picture is best read as a modest trace of the agency's everyday output in the early twentieth century.
