This glass negative pairs two named men, Fred Schnell and Rudolph Kline, in a portrait that the record attributes to the Bain News Service, a New York picture agency that sold news photographs to newspapers from the early 1900s into the 1920s. The record gives no date or occasion, and its title comes from caption cards the agency wrote, so the names are as the agency recorded them rather than independently confirmed. Bain's glass plates were made for quick use by editors, which is why many show public figures and newsworthy people caught at work or at events.
