This lithograph carries the slogan "Por la España, una grande y libre" ("For Spain, great and free"), a line that the Falange Española used to rally support for the Nationalist side of the Spanish Civil War. The record credits its printing to the Jefatura Nacional de Prensa y Propaganda, the Falangist press and propaganda office, and places its production in Bilbao between 1936 and 1939. Its color design pairs soldiers with Spanish flags to present the military struggle as a patriotic duty. Posters like this were pasted on walls and used to recruit and to unify public opinion during the war.
