The Paul Revere House, on North Square in Boston's North End, is the city's oldest surviving building, and it stands out from the harbor, church and street views that usually fill a board of Boston scenes. The house dates to about 1680 and was home to the silversmith and patriot Paul Revere for much of his life, including the years before his famous ride in April 1775. Its weathered clapboards and steep roofline show the modest scale of colonial-era houses in a neighborhood that was once the heart of the town's trade and waterfront life.
