The Ford Model A, the company's first car, is the subject here, a two-cylinder runabout from the Ford Motor Company's opening year in 1903. The company sold only a small number of these cars before it moved on to later models. The 1903 date comes from an old caption card and is unverified, so this print may be a later copy of an earlier view. It was issued by the Ford News Bureau of Dearborn, Michigan, a publicity office that distributed photographs of company products, so it reflects how the company wanted its early history presented as much as how the car looked.
