Tucked into a narrow lane near Lincoln's Inn Fields, this timber-fronted shop is the building London has long tied to Charles Dickens's 1841 novel *The Old Curiosity Shop*, whose young heroine, Little Nell, made the place famous. Whether the building is old enough, or really the model Dickens had in mind, is debated, but tourists came to see it in the early twentieth century. This stereo card from Underwood & Underwood, issued around 1914, shows how stereoviewers carried such sights into parlors, and the company sold these paired images in large numbers, so the card records a popular tourist view as much as the building itself.
