This stereograph shows Grand Canyon Lodge on the North Rim, the canyon's less-visited side, at a time when the lodge was still new. Union Pacific built the rustic stone-and-timber lodge in the late 1920s, and its architect, Gilbert Stanley Underwood, designed it to blend into the forested plateau near the canyon edge. Keystone View Company, a major American publisher of stereo cards, issued the card as part of its travel views. The date is taken from the caption card and has not been independently verified.
