A carriage identified as belonging to A.G. Vanderbilt is the subject of this 1908 glass negative, made at a horse show. Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt was a prominent member of the family and a noted horseman, so a carriage in his name would have drawn attention among the crowd. The image comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, whose News Service photographers recorded events in New York and elsewhere in the early twentieth century. The title comes from notes made at the time and has not been independently verified.
