The poster's title compares Marie Curie to Christopher Columbus, calling her the explorer who discovered a new continent in science. Born in Warsaw on Nov. 7, 1867, she shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in physics with her husband, Pierre, and later won the 1911 Nobel Prize in chemistry, the first person to win two Nobel Prizes. Her research on radioactivity led to the discovery of polonium and radium, which shaped physics and medicine for decades. This poster, one of several featured in each issue of TABS, marks her life and her death on July 4, 1934.
