This glass negative shows Woodrow Wilson with his wife, Edith Bolling Galt Wilson, whom he married in December 1915 after the death of his first wife. It came from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that sold news photographs to newspapers across the country. The year 1917 was a turbulent one for the president, since the United States entered the First World War that April. The title and date come from the agency's own caption notes and have not been independently verified, so they are best read as the agency's identification.
