Martin H. Glynn, who became governor of New York in 1913 after the impeachment of William Sulzer, is the figure the title names, but the record does not identify his wife or date the sitting. The picture is a glass negative from the Bain News Service, a New York agency that supplied newspapers with news and portrait photographs in the early twentieth century. The title comes from caption information the agency wrote on the negatives or cards, which was not always checked, so the identification is best treated as provisional. Small glass negatives like this one show how portrait work for the press was made in that period.
