A football poster for the November 7 contest between Phillips Exeter Academy and Phillips Andover Academy, played at Exeter, opens this paragraph. Andrew B. Graham produced it as a color photo-lithograph in Washington, D.C., around 1903, and the Potomac Press printed it. Exeter and Andover were longtime New England prep school rivals, and their annual game drew large crowds, so posters like this one were used to advertise the match. Color lithography was a common and affordable way to make eye-catching sports posters in the early 1900s.
