This 1916 lithograph is a call to buy into the Fifth War Loan through the Zivnostenská banka in Prague and its branches, a local bank named in the poster's own title. The Austro-Hungarian government ran a series of these bond drives to pay for the war, and regional banks served as the counters where ordinary savers bought the bonds. The knights in the design draw on chivalric imagery, a common device in wartime appeals that presented lending money to the state as a patriotic duty.
