Titled simply *The Witch, No. 1*, this large lithograph by J.E. Baker measures about 28 by 41 inches and was issued by the Boston and New York firm of Geo. H. Walker & Co. around 1892. The "No. 1" suggests it was one of a numbered set, though the record does not say whether other sheets followed. Walker & Co. produced inexpensive lithographs for a broad public, and dramatic figure subjects like this one were popular in the decade before 1900. The publication date and other details come from an older shelflist card and have not been independently verified.
