Fishing schooners fill the waterfront at T Wharf in Boston, where the city's fishing fleet tied up to unload its catch. Around 1905, when this view was made, the wharf was a working harbor hub, with schooner masts rising above the piers and steamships sharing the water. The photograph comes from the Detroit Publishing Company, which documented American cities, landscapes and industry in the early twentieth century, so the scene shows the port as a commercial place rather than a posed portrait.
