Chariots are the subject that sets this lithograph apart from other posters of the 1936 Games. It was published in Berlin by the Reichsbahnzentrale für den Deutschen Reiseverkehr, the travel-promotion office of the German state railway, to encourage visitors to come to Germany for the 11th Olympiad. The Nazi government used the Berlin Olympics to present the country in a favorable light, and posters like this one carried that message through bold color and simple, dramatic imagery.
