A line of early motorcars is the subject of this c1905 print, which the Library of Congress catalogs simply as Auto Parade. The caption card credits a photographer, possibly A.B. Chelan, with an address on West 106th Street in New York City, though those details are unverified. Around 1905, automobiles were still a novelty on American streets, and parades of them drew crowds as owners and manufacturers showed off the rapidly developing machines. The "U.S. Copyright Office" label suggests the picture was submitted for copyright registration, which is one reason such photographs survive in the Library's collections.
