Franklin Village, Michigan, a suburb northwest of Detroit, is the setting for this view of old automobiles lined up for the parade at the Motor City Cavalcade's press preview. The caption card dates the photograph only to the 193- decade, and its subject tags point to cars of the 1900s, so the vehicles were likely early models shown as a historical display. Detroit's nickname as the Motor City reflects the auto industry that grew there in the early twentieth century, and the press preview invited reporters to see how far car design had come.
