A procession of motor trucks on New York City streets, dated April 22, 1911 on its caption card, shows the city's early turn toward motorized freight. Bain News Service, the photo agency George Grantham Bain founded to supply pictures to newspapers, made the image, and its negatives now sit in the Library of Congress. By 1911 motor trucks were beginning to take over hauling work from horse-drawn wagons, so a parade like this gave businesses a public way to show off the new vehicles. The record does not name the organizers or the route.
