Few pictures on this board show Theodore Roosevelt standing full length beside a fellow officer, in this case General Leonard Wood. The two men were bound by the Rough Riders, the volunteer cavalry regiment Wood commanded in 1898, with Roosevelt as his second in command. The Library of Congress dates the print to about 1920, a year after Roosevelt's death, so it likely reproduces an earlier sitting or was issued later. Wood himself sought the Republican presidential nomination that year.
