This silkscreen print shows a fruit store, a familiar street-corner scene of the 1930s, rendered in flat, bold color. Dated 1936 and stamped on the back March 24, 1941, it comes from the Work Projects Administration's Federal Art Project, which used silkscreen to produce inexpensive posters for public information and promotion. The record ties it to a promotional goal, and the later date stamp suggests the sheet was still in circulation or in files as late as 1941, when the program was nearing its end.
