Wild game as a resource a whole community can share is the central idea of this 1936 silkscreen poster from the New York State Bureau of Game, whose Conservation Department was then led by Commissioner Lithgow Osborne. The printed title, *A game crop is a community asset*, presents hunting and game management as a public good rather than only a sport. Like many Work Projects Administration posters, it was produced by artists working under federal relief programs during the Depression, when inexpensive posters were a practical way to reach rural and city audiences. The design is credited to Benn Wolfe, and a date stamp of April 16, 1937 on the reverse records when the poster was filed.
