Among the barn and farm subjects on this board, this piece is an advertisement, and its focus is plumbing: water systems built for country homes, promoted under the name of The Baltimore Company. Ads like this appeared often in farm papers and rural catalogs around the turn of the 20th century, when many farmhouses still relied on hand-drawn well water or a windmill-fed tank. Before public water mains reached most rural areas, the way a household got its water shaped its daily work and comfort, so a printed promise of running water carried real appeal. The ad is worth reading for how it presents the farm home as a place that could be modernized.
