Göring stands beside an unidentified man in this three-quarter-length portrait, taken at his country house on the Obersalzberg above Berchtesgaden in the Bavarian Alps. The album caption dates the stay to the winter of 1934 to 1935, when Göring was serving as Prime Minister of Prussia. The picture comes from his own photo archive, a collection of images he kept and organized himself. Because the album was assembled by Göring, its selection and captions reflect how he wanted his life and associations presented.
