Taken at the Hotel Messmer in Saarbrücken on November 1, 1935, this half-length portrait shows Hermann Göring in uniform in the months after the Saar region returned to German control following a January plebiscite. The picture comes from an album documenting Göring's activities from July through December 1935, and its listed subjects also point to Hitler Youth and crowds gathering in the city. The title and date were transcribed from old caption cards and later revisions, so they are best read as the most reliable available record rather than fully confirmed.
