Here the subject is a club official rather than a player: Charles H. Ebbets, Jr., shown in a head-and-shoulders view turned to the right. He served as secretary of the Brooklyn National League club, working alongside his father, Charles Ebbets, who owned the team and later built Ebbets Field in Flatbush. The portrait comes from the George Grantham Bain Collection, a body of news photographs assembled in New York in the early twentieth century, and it dates from between 1900 and 1920.
