Few interwar Polish posters put wildlife so squarely at the center as this 1936 color lithograph, which uses a buffalo and a deer to promote a national exhibition on forests and nature protection. Printed in Lwów by the Piller-Neumann firm, it carries a Polish title that credits I. Z. Acedański. The European bison, or żubr, had been pushed to the brink by the early twentieth century, and the Białowieża Forest became the country's best-known refuge for the species, so conservation imagery like this carried real national weight.
