This portrait shows Robert Rutherford McCormick (1880-1955), the Chicago newspaper publisher who ran the *Chicago Tribune* for decades and built it into one of the most influential papers in the Midwest. The print is credited to Underwood & Underwood, the New York firm that supplied press photographs and portraits to newspapers and magazines in the early twentieth century. Its December 1925 date falls in the years when McCormick was consolidating his control of the *Tribune*, and studio portraits like this one were used to introduce newsmakers to readers. The catalog data for this print is unverified, so the date and attribution are worth checking against other sources.
