Little is certain about the subject beyond the title, Geo. W. Parrezo, interior, which the National Photo Company recorded on the negative but which has not been independently verified. The 8 by 6 inch glass negative is dated to roughly 1918 to 1928 by comparison with others from the same range. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., firm, documented the city and its people during those years, and this plate came to the Library of Congress as a gift from Herbert A. French in 1947. Streaks and blemishes on the glass reflect natural deterioration of its original coating.
