The poster's headline claims that Ford owners have used Mobiloil "since the beginning" and presents a new version as the next step in that loyalty. Ford's Model T had put cars within reach of millions of American families, and by 1929 the company had replaced it with the Model A, so the message reached drivers who were already choosing new cars and new maintenance habits. Mobiloil was made by the Vacuum Oil Company, later part of Socony-Vacuum, and its red flying horse trademark was a familiar sign at service stations. The poster's bold text and direct appeal to car owners show how oil companies competed for drivers' loyalty during the decade.
