Niagara Falls is shown here as a broad sheet of water that spans the border between New York and Ontario, the two sides of the cataract that this record names together. The print dates to around 1905 and was registered for copyright by O.E. Dunlap, a photographer who produced many views of the falls for sale to tourists in that era. Photographs like this one were part of a booming souvenir trade that carried the falls' image across the country, and they remain a useful record of how the site looked before later engineering and power development changed the riverbanks.
