Uncle Sam, the familiar national symbol, is cast here as a guarantor of workers' rights, with the slogan promising that joining a union will not cost anyone their job. The catalog dates the poster only to a span between 1965 and 1980, and it survives in two sizes, one exactly twice the dimensions of the other. The message echoes the protections in the National Labor Relations Act of 1935, which barred employers from firing workers for union membership. Posters of this kind carried that legal promise into workplaces and union halls, where organizers relied on blunt, memorable appeals to reach members.
