From an elevated vantage point, this view of T Wharf shows a working section of Boston's waterfront, where fishing and shipping crowded the piers along the harbor. It survives as a stereograph, a pair of nearly identical photographs meant to be viewed together through a stereoscope, a popular parlor entertainment around 1901. The card was copyrighted by B.L. Singley and issued by the Keystone View Company, a major American publisher of such views. Its caption notes fishing and wharves, which makes it useful for seeing how the harbor's commercial life was arranged at the turn of the century.
