Albert's tomb is in the Frogmore Mausoleum on the grounds of Windsor, not the better-known Albert Memorial in London's Kensington Gardens, so the caption's title deserves a closer look. Queen Victoria had the mausoleum built after her husband, Prince Albert, died in 1861, and it was completed around 1871 as a domed burial place in the royal grounds. Victoria was laid to rest beside him in 1901. The Bain News Service, a New York press agency, sent photographers to record notable places and events for newspapers, and this glass negative is one of many images it made of such sites.
