Cowboys gathered for the noon meal at a chuckwagon are the focus of this card, which its caption presents as a typical camp in the Wild and Wooly West of Arizona. The card was printed in Decatur, Illinois, around 1907 by the International Stereograph Company and carries a copyright notice in the name of C.L. Wasson. Stereocards like this were viewed in a stereoscope, which fused two slightly offset photographs into one three-dimensional scene, and they were popular parlor entertainment in the early 1900s. Many western camp scenes of this kind were arranged for the camera, so the picture shows how eastern audiences imagined ranch life as much as its daily routine.
