An engraving of Jan III Sobieski, King of Poland from 1674 to 1696, appears in Onno Klopp's 1882 study *Das Jahr 1683*, published in Graz. Klopp's book centers on 1683, when Sobieski led a combined Polish and Habsburg army that broke the Ottoman siege of Vienna in September. That relief is often counted among the most consequential battles in early modern Europe, and a portrait of the king in a book about that year shows how closely his name came to be tied to the victory. The engraver is not identified here.
